Peals of church bells signaling Sunday Mass were painful gongs beating in Daisy’s head. She struggled to open her eyes against the bright morning light and automatically reached for Alex. He was on his stomach, facing her, his palm resting on her breast. Stirring, his hand moved in small circles, caressing her gently. She snuggled against him, whispering a throaty, “Good morning.”

“Good morning, beautiful.”

“Please stop yelling.”

Smiling, he fought to open one eye, “Limoncello.”

“Shh…” she whispered, giggling.

He kissed her ear and asked, “We didn’t make love in the elevator, did we?”

“We made it to the bed.”

“Good, because it’s the last thing I remember. That’s not the kind of corporate video the board members need to see.”

“I’d get fired,” she said, moving her hand up stroke his hair.

“We’d be fired,” he corrected.

“Oh god, I feel sick.”

Alex picked up a trash bin from his side of the bed and handed it to her.

“Very funny,” she said, tapping him lightly on the arm.

He chuckled and leaned back into the pillows.

“Don’t ever let me drink limoncello again,” she announced.

“That’s a promise I cannot make.”

“Enabler,” she said as she sat up, the world spinning as nausea threatened to overtake her.

“Stay in bed, try to sleep it off,” he said, groping for her hand blindly, his eyes closed once again.

“I have to brush my teeth.”

Standing, she slowly meandered to the bathroom, going through her normal morning routine much more slowly. In the shower, she slumped against the cool tiled wall and moaned.

A few minutes later, she heard Alex at the sink performing the same ritual. He stepped in the shower beside her, his hands running over her smooth wet skin. Sighing in pleasure, she leaned against him for support.

“I need to wash my hair, but my arms are too heavy to lift over my head,” she complained, her face smashed against his hard chest.

“Allow me.”

“Thank you, just be gentle, because it hurts.”

“Your hair hurts?” Alex laughed, his whole body moving.

“Stop it. You’re making me seasick.”

When his laughter grew louder, she pulled away from him to lean once again against the cool marble.

“I’m sorry sweetheart, but you’re cute all hung over,” he said, kissing her until she all but forgot about her hangover.
